# SMS

Once your SMS Agent is configured, it’s time to take it live so it can engage users directly via text messages — answering questions, qualifying contacts, and continuing conversations beyond your website.

Going live with SMS means your MagicBlocks Agent can:

- Respond to incoming SMS messages in real-time
- Continue conversations started on your website
- Trigger SMS follow-ups from specific journey blocks
- Notify you or your team via SMS for qualified contacts

This turns your Agent into a **mobile-first sales assistant**, active 24/7 on your business number.

## **What You Need Before Going Live**

Before activating SMS, make sure:

- Your Twilio account is connected
- You have an active Twilio phone number
- Your SMS channel is enabled for the Agent
- Your Journeys include SMS actions or follow-up rules (if needed)

## **How to Go Live with SMS**

There are two ways your Agent can operate over SMS:

### **1\. SMS-Only Agent**

Your users text your number directly.
The Agent replies and handles conversations end-to-end inside SMS.

**Use this when:**

- You want an SMS autoresponder
- Contacts text your business number to inquire
- You serve industries where texting is preferred (mortgage, services, coaching, local businesses)

**User experience example:**

```
User: Hi, do you do roof repairs?
Agent: Hey! 👋 Yes we do. Where is your property located?
```

### **2\. SMS Follow-Up After Website Chat**

Your Agent chats on your site first, then continues the conversation via SMS automatically.

Great for:

- Booking follow-ups
- Quote delivery
- Reminder sequences
- Contact nurturing
- Drop-off recovery

**Example flow:**

| Website Chat | SMS Follow-Up |
| --- | --- |
| User visits your site & chats | Agent sends SMS with link, reminder, or offer |
| User leaves site | Conversation continues on mobile |

**Automation example:**

> *User shares phone → finishes chat → Agent sends SMS*
> “Thanks for chatting! Here’s your quote link 👉 …”

## **Real-World Use Cases**

| Use Case | What Happens |
| --- | --- |
| Contact follows up via SMS | Continue the conversation & qualify |
| Hyper-fast sales response | New contact triggers SMS to your team |
| Appointment reminders | Reduce no-shows with smart reminders |
| Drop-off recovery | “Hey, looks like you left — want help?” |
| SMS opt-out automation | Allow users to unsubscribe via text |

## **Benefits of SMS Follow-Up**

| Benefit | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Instant response** | Reach users directly after they leave your site |
| **Higher conversions** | Follow up while interest is fresh |
| **Personal touch** | Continue the same tone and Persona from the web |
| **Seamless automation** | Contact Transfer and Twilio handle everything |
| **24/7 reachability** | Keep contacts warm, even outside business hours |

## **Common Configurations**

| Type | Example | Setup |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Sales follow-up** | “Hey Alex, still interested in our AI agent setup?” | Add Send SMS action in “Get in Touch” block |
| **Booking confirmation** | “Your demo with MagicBlocks is confirmed for 3PM.” | Add Send SMS action in “Book a Call” block |
| **Internal alert** | “New contact: Alex (415-555-8922)” | Add Send SMS → Notify Team |
| **Abandoned chat** | “We saw you didn’t finish — want help?” | Trigger SMS when user drops off mid-chat |

## **SMS vs Web Conversations**

| Feature | **Website Chat** | **SMS Follow-Up** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Where it starts** | On your website | On user’s phone |
| **How it’s triggered** | Embedded chat | Action or Contact Transfer |
| **Response speed** | Instant (browser) | Instant (mobile) |
| **Tone** | Rich, detailed | Short, direct |
| **When it happens** | During live visit | After visit or trigger event |

## **Testing Before Live**

Run through these checks:

- Send yourself a test SMS
- Trigger the SMS from a Journey action
- Check for correct reply behavior
- Verify timezone + country code formats

## **Pro Tips for SMS Going-Live**

| Best Practice | Why |
| --- | --- |
| Keep messages short | SMS = concise, punchy engagement |
| Add personalization | Use tags like<br>`{{name}}`<br>for natural tone |
| Ensure opt-in consent | Compliance + better user trust |
| Align tone with chat persona | Consistency = trust |
| Test with your own phone first | Validate speed & UX |

## **Troubleshooting**

| Issue | Cause | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| SMS not sending | Twilio not connected | Reconnect in<br>**Connections → Twilio** |
| Wrong phone number | Invalid or missing country code | Use international (+1, +62, etc.) |
| Duplicate SMS | Multiple actions triggering | Check Journey logic |
| No reply from user | Message too long or filtered | Keep messages concise |
| Consent issues | No opt-in flow | Add phone permission step in Journey |

## **Why It Matters**

Your website Agent captures interest.
SMS keeps that interest alive.

By going live with SMS, your AI doesn’t stop when the chat ends — it becomes a persistent, mobile-ready assistant that drives conversions through real-time text engagement.

### Your Agent, Now in Their Pocket

With SMS activated, your Agent doesn’t sit on your homepage waiting — it travels with your prospects and customers, continues conversations, and closes deals in the one inbox they always check: their text messages**.**
